My Thoughts
“I have truly enjoyed my time with Rugby Deutschland so far, and while I have been lucky to work across programs, the chance to head the Women's 7s program into a new era is very exciting. With historic results in season one, I am very interested how we can develop for season 2.”

My Thoughts
“We ended up 2nd place in the league table in each of my two seasons in charge — the highest finish since 2004. In both seasons we made it to the Grand Final. The team is very talented, but we focused on simplifying the game plan, implementing the 2x2 shape, and improving our mentality on defence. We also won the National 7s title, breaking RGH's 7-year run as champions.”

My Thoughts
“As a national team coach I realised I cannot recruit players and must improve the athletes I already have. I was very fortunate to work with a tremendous group of committed players with growth mindsets. With the 15s, this was my first example of my 2x2 philosophy and although we did not win many games in the first year we were the second highest scoring team in the competition.”

My Thoughts
“The success at this club was all about planning. I worked closely with the leadership group on the culture and individual player development within our simple 1-3-3-1 structure. By my third season we made our first ever final, going on to beat Vienna Celtic 14-12. Later that year we beat Donau at their home pitch — when I arrived we had never beaten them.”

My Thoughts
“This was certainly the most challenging role I have had so far. The atmosphere could be described as toxic, and not only did I need to align the players and motivate them again, I had to deal with many cultural challenges. Ultimately we won the majority of games we needed to win and achieved our objective.”

My Thoughts
“This role had many challenges as a player at the club also. We focused a lot on team culture and playing the Emlyn way — fast running rugby. We benefitted from the first team's rapid growth and achieved a double-double, then made history by competing against 1st team sides nation-wide.”

My Thoughts
“I had a very short stint with the group but made an impact, particularly on our attack. We had a mix of Leicester Tigers expats and local Malaysian players — blending classic Leicester set-piece dominance with the fast-paced Malaysian game. Two trophies from an exciting challenge.”

My Thoughts
“After retiring from playing due to injury I focused more than ever on coaching. I focused hard on defence — all statistics were positive, conceding fewer points than the previous season. Coaching a new group of women, some who had never played, was an exciting challenge. We created a great team spirit and won every game.”
